GHIN Handicapping

If you want to create and maintain a handicap but can’t or don’t want to join a physical club, the USGA offers a GHIN account and membership via their “eClub.” Junior golfers are free.

A GHIN handicap index is a great way to track your progress in the game and is required to enter a number of amateur events.

You can download the GHIN app (for iOS or Android) and enter your scores (and stats if you wish) the same day you play. The app provides some great information and allows you to track your progress in the game.

I’m happy to do my best to answer questions about the junior events you (or your golfer) can play in, for example, though as a general rule I encourage them to play in as many events as they can (while still providing some balance in week-to-week life) so they get used to putting their name up next to a number.
